A Little History

Behind Our Enterprise

The Akwesasne Economic Development Agency (AEDA) is a non-profit corporation that delivers

employment and training services. AEDA has been in the business of training and employing people in our community since 1988. AEDA provides payroll services, sponsorship programs, computer lab and boardroom rentals. Our Kanien’kéha Language and Resource Center is becoming a major center for language learning in Akwesasne, we have made it a goal since the covid shutdown to have at least two classes a week to sustain and connect our people with their culture and language. The future holds great possibility and our goal is for our program to be a full time immersion 5 days a week that supports at least a roster of teachers that are well compensated and students that are supported through their learning journey and there may be compensation as well under established circumstances.
